hey how fresh is the motor?

when you have it in pull the cap and check the movement left or right should be very little if it is more then a 1/4 inch the go get a new distributor. I think when I got a new one from the parts store it was $20. with your old one as a core. another way to tel is put a timing light on it and if the mark moves back and forth allot then you need another one or you timming chain is stretched.

hey question for you.. can you tell me how to check distributor gear backlash?? where the distributor meshes with the camshaft??
